About
SkiAllYear started with a simple, slightly nutty goal: ski at least one day every month of the year. I do it with my daughter, from Boulder.
Winter and spring are the easy part. Late summer and fall are not. By August the named snowfields are shrinking, and by October you're hunting for a strip of snow in a north-facing cirque. The 2025/26 season was a thin one, and summers keep getting warmer, so every year it gets a little harder.
So I built my own way of looking. Every few days the Sentinel-2 satellite passes over the Front Range; SkiAllYear reads those images to see which snowfields and glaciers still hold snow, including the unnamed ones, and puts them next to reports from people who've actually been out there.
There's a small, fun group of backcountry skiers who chase this too, and I like them a lot. If you're one of them and this helps, you're welcome to use it, and to ask for an invite so you can post your own ski days.
